July 11-August 7, 2014, Ferrara, Itlay
Delegation and Adult Leader

CISV Villages are international camps that inspire 11-year-old children to imagine a more just and peaceful world. The children come together from many different countries to take part in a variety of fun, educational, cultural and sporting activities. Each Village welcomes delegations from 10-12 countries. Each delegation has two boys and two girls, accompanied by an adult leader. The camp is coordinated by adult staff, supported by Junior Counselors (age 16-17).

A Village creates a safe, fun setting in which participants will learn, with children from around the world, about each others’ lives and cultures and how to communicate, cooperate and live together. The Village learning experiences, and the friendships made, will last your child a lifetime.

The Northeast Ohio delegation, their leader and their families will have opportunities to be together and get to know each other well before traveling.

Interchange

12-13 Year Olds
Delegation: Three Girls, Three Boys, Adult Leader

Summer 2014, Bologna, Italy

The Interchange is for boys and girls ages 12 & 13. The Interchange program encourages an encounter between two cultures by placing young people within families. The Interchange takes place in two phases with one delegation visiting another country and then reciprocating the same summer by hosting the delegation from the other country. Travel and hosting will take place between June 15 and August 10, 2014 exact dates to be determined. If you know of any families with children in the age group, let them know about this great opportunity! An adult leader, age 21 or older, is also needed to travel with the delegation and take part in activities during the hosting phase.

The Northeast Ohio CISV Chapter has been matched with the CISV Chapter in Bologna, Italy for a four-week family exchange program during the Summer of 2014. Based on CISV’s educational principals, Interchange encourages a deeper encounter between two cultures by placing young people within families. Group activities during the exchange, such as a mini-camp, are a vital complement to the in-depth family experience.

Interchange takes place in two ‘phases’ – your child joins a delegation that visits another country for approximately two weeks and is hosted there by a CISV family. Then in return you and your family host for two weeks the Italian child whom your child visited. Interchange exchanges give your whole family the chance to experience another culture and make new friends and to be part of your local CISV community.

Application deadline is January 20, 2014 and interested youth must attend the selection day event in Youngstown on January 26. Please contact our CISV Interchange Chair, Lisa Moran at neo-interchange@cisvusa.org for more information.
